Death threats to the Denmark striker, who missed a penalty kick against Croatia

The Danish Football Association said on Tuesday it had informed the police that striker Nikolai Jorgensen had received death threats for missing a penalty kick against Croatia at the 2018 World Cup.

Denmark called the World Cup by Croatia because of penalties in the round of 16 of the competition.

"Stop, our society should never accept any death threats, either for the World Cup or for others," the Danish Football Association said in a tweet posted on its official Twitter account.

"This incident is totally unacceptable. We have told the police to stop this madness."

Jorgensen was not the only one to miss Denmark's penalty on Sunday. Lhasa Shawnie and Christian Ereksen wasted two more shots to qualify for Croatia.
